The Correlation between Irony and Satire in Or-well’s Animal Farm: A Qualitative Lexical Analysis
Research Abstract
Irony and satire in Orwell’s Animal Farm are lexically investigated in the current paper, in order to find out the correlation between both con-cepts. The researcher adopts a qualitative method of analysis, focusing on chapter 10. The findings show that there is an integrative relationship be-tween irony and satire in the novel, where they both portray the image of corrupt leaders. While irony shows the contrast between their subjects’ life before and after them, and how it gets worse, satire displays the common characteristics between in corrupt animal leaders and those of humans.
